Now shall we talk about hooks? Charlie H wishes to know the best hooks for holding on to salmon during a fight. I have found both loop doubles and Partridge Salar doubles to be equally effective, but the differences in size I find amazing. I also got some hooks from Nobu from Japan that had a very wide angle betwen the doubles and these seemed to work well with a sunray shadow / colliedog type fly.

Partridge Big Mouth Doubles are very similar to the Loop tube doubles but are much cheaper.
Malcolm's right, the sizes are all over the place.

Yes, I think the Salar's are the ones for me too, just wish they weren't so expensive.
Not only do they hold fish well, but they have a nice profile for tying/dressing on, and they are a decent weight to plop into the water.

www.fishingpool.co.uk/_image.php?q=245/size/300/image/274-2_r2_c2_r1_c1.jpgMight be the picture but thats a nasty loooking hook ,for me Sprites and Old (UK made) Partridges are the way to go . Really wish that the Sprite Guys had taken on some apprentices a few years ago ,my trout sprites are well stocked but my salmon hook stock is severly limited ,and I do like English Hooks

The picture is not really very good, they are the same quality as the Eagle Claw trebles, sharp with a round bend which is a little wider than the trebles. No complaints from me about them!
