If you are only going to be casting around three rod lengths you would probably be as well off with a normal double taper line - something like the shakespeare worcestershire (I'm sure I have seen these being sold for a good price on ebay).
I'm surprised you find spinning easier on your back. I always found I suffered more back pain after an hour spinning then I would after a full day with the fly rod.

Believe me Spinning is a lot easier on my back than ,wading and using a double handed rod. You need lessons I'll do you a special deal
