I remember seeing on a rod rack at galway weir what looked like an intermediate head followed by yellow running line. The clear intermediate part looked to be about 10yds approx long and seemed to be a factory line and not a home made job. Tried to trace the owner but he evaded me and i never got to find out the make. Has anyone ever come across a line like this? Would love to get my hands on something like this as it would be perfect for the grilse fishing on Galway weir.

Sounds like a Hardy distance spey sink tip. The line fishes at a nice depth but, like most sink tips, can be messy to cast.

Sounds like a Cortland 444SL Ghost Tip. The line is green though not yellow and the tip is not 10 yards long. Can't think of anything else off hand but will have a look in the books tomorrow. The Ghost tip would do the job though.

If it was on a double handed rod it definiteley sounds like a Hardy distance spey sink tip. I have one and fished it a lot during the summer last year. Like I said, it fishes at a nice depth and took a few fish, however I don't think that it matches well to my rod, or it just casts badly being a sink tip.

Don't think it was a shootinghead because the floating line was as thick behind the clear head. The line was on a 15ft sage. The clear part was one and a half times the rod length, with quite a few turns still on the reel,so i'm guessing about 30ft sinktip length. Maybe it's a line the angler rustled up himself and i just missed the join between clear and yellow floating.

Might have been a rio windcutter multi tip with the clear intermediate tip fitted. Floating head is yellow, tips are 15' long.

Check the Hardy website -- sounds like a Hardy Mach II Salmon intermediate line that has a clear head and a yellow running line. I'm interested in that line as well, however before I buy it, I have to be sure that the clear section handles cold water without coiling up. I was out fishing this morning and the water was 1C.

It could of been a floating intermediate if it was a shooting head, I fish with the float/sink and float/intermediate lines and there are very good/useful shooting head. I have just place some shooting heads in the classified section for sale and there are very good prices per shooting head.
