What line would you recommend to go with with a Guideline LPXE 12'6 7/8? Versatility an advantage and user -friendliness a must as I am a beginner!
I will be primarily using this rod for sea trout and salmon in the spring/summer.
Thanks

Cortland 444 DT 8. Great line and you won't grow out of it like you would with the windcutter. Or Snowbee 2d 8/9.

Snowbee 2d 8/9 is the line I use on my 13footer for grilse in the summer. It will do the job and is a pleasure to cast. The 2 tone line is great for figuring out just how much line is needed to load the rod properly so it would fit the bill for beginning purposes.

I would recommend the Snowbee 1D 8/9 as it can turn over 10' polyleaders. Lovely supple line that casts very nicely.

Rio windcutter cant beat it. The head is a bit bright but what a line. Though iv'e heard snowbee lines are worth a chuck too.

One of the problems with the Windcutter is that the weight is at the back of the head and consequently most, if not all, of the head has to be out to load the rod properly. The Snowbee's profile has the weight distributed so that it casts well even at close range.

Can't say I agree as I find that to make the line cast properly the head must be at least at hand or better still a minimum of 1/2 way up the rod. And that's with the correct line size for all the rods I use them on. Still the dog's B****x though for everyday fishing.

The Snowbee lines tend to be quite light. The line weights are the same for a given rating, so the longer the head, the effective weight becomes less. The 1D #8/9 should be a good all-round versatile line for taggarc's LPXe #7/8.
