Scott MacKenzie Demo and Tuition 29 April

Dear Forum

My, and many peoples, good friend Jim-Jim Panchero Gargaro is hosting an open day at his Bowden Springs Fishery, near Linlithgow on Sunday 29 April. The event is from 10 - 4.

Attending all day will be spey casting supremo and all round gent Scott MacKenzie. I understand he will be giving demos and also some 1:2:1 tution all as part of Jim-Jim's hospitality

There will also be the oppotunity to try out a range of DH Rods including Daiwa, Hardys, Greys, Vision, Snowbee, Sage, T&T and Spey Lines including Rio, Snowbee, Hardys, Ian Gordon etc as well as trootie gear.

Drinks and food will be laid on and there will be a barbie at lunchtime, all gratis.

P.S Rumour has it that Lord of Cast Like a Ghille Darkness - The Don will be there for an epic Swishy Swashy dual with Scott...oh Lordy, you don't want to miss that after the ruin he left another well known spey caster in last year

I thought it worth a reminder of this jamboree coming on Sunday for those in range. Have now had confirmed from the Don that the following DH rods will be available to test out:

Scott MacKenzie's signature rods
New Hardy Swift - 14', 15' and 16'
The new Traditional Spey CND Rod distributed by Guide
Ian Gordon Partridge Rods 14 - 16'
Sage Z Axis 14' 15' and 16'
Sage VT2 14'
Also Guide Line, Snowbee and Diawa

Thanks CLaG - Jim Jim's kind hospitality should be the ideal conduit for at least the central belters who subscribe to the forum to get together and meet up in person with people they have traded posts with over the last few months. The chance to watch the Don "educate" us all in the art of spey casting and to have a bit of salmon fishing banter with like minded individuals not to mention watching the awsome talent of Mr Mackenzie should make this a day out not to miss for forum members

Just a brief note of thanks to Jim, Jacqui, Don Juan and co for putting on this event. Scott was whamming it oot a mile with his 18ft diawa and custom spey line (40yd belly!). Even yours truly was able to nearly touch 50yds with this gear and a strong back wind but to see Scott hit the 60yd zone was awesome. Good fun casting the new Z-axis and Hardy Swifts

And here is said Speycaster sending a forty yard head (keep it clean) into orbit earlier today in a spontaneous attempt to set a word [Bowden Springs] record.....which he did thus...



However, while everyone had gone for a cup of tea, the Don set a new world record of 72 yards using the "Heilicopter' Cast.....shame we missed that one... eh

I was there today had a great time trying out the z axis ,VT2 and the hardy swift that z axis is some tool
It was great to meet and talk to Scott Mackenzie and to have a go with the BIG ROD you need your porridge for that thing i can tell you
Fly tying exhibition was good and so was the one to one tuition
BBQ was great too

Great Day out Thanks to jim and all the others involved in setting it up ;D ;D ;D

He also caught a salmon and six sea trout, you obviously stayed in the tea tent for too long
