Graham, I was looking for some last year, for the same purpose. I didn't find any for sale, but Farlows had some in the shop which I guess they use for putting loops onto lines for customers. I asked if they could sell me a spool, and instead they gave me several feet of it for free.
I will happily send you a yard or so, if that's enough to keep you going. Otherwise, it might be worth asking Farlows if they can let you have a spool, though I think it's not a stock item of theirs.
