just as a matter of interest, how many of us use tapered leaders. Years ago I recall the Ness men using really long leaders 15lb stepped down to 12lb and I know some who still use this method.
Has the use of polys made this redundant?

I don't bother when using larger flies with shorter leaders. If I am feeling industrious during the summer, I will make some up with varying lengths and breaking strains for fishing low water with a floating line.

Interesting stuff. I use a dropper a lot so no more knots there. But Im going to give it a go, i can think of a few places it could be to my advantage....
Thanks

For floating line fishing for Steelhead i have used the Rio 15' Steelhead & Atlantic Salmon Knotless tapered leaders for quite a while now. They turn over the fly very well(size 2- size 8). I use them down to 10lb and have been very happy with them. tight lines, brian
