I want to replace the exhisting No 10 DT lines for my wifes 14'. The lines to be replaced are fairly old versions of the Hardy range ( full floater ice blue / No1 slow sink light olive). What, in the opinion of forum members is the 'best' DT line available at present ? Cortland ? Airflo?. With so much talk these days about the many profiles and variations available for 'spey' style lines it just seems like the humble DT is getting harder and harder to find and in salmon sizes. Opinions and suggestions appreciated.

i was in the same position last year. I had the old ice blue DTs from Hardy- excellent lines.
The replacements I got were scientific anglers ultra4 salmon- buckskin- in 9 and 10 DT. Good lines, but it is a shame about the hardy's

A lad I met last week uses the Shakespeare Worcestershire DT & swears by it & he appeared to know what he was talking about, not me still learning & soaking up all advice

I think the Shakespeare Worcestershire lines offer excellent value. John Norris do them pretty cheap.

rob is right, Norris is doing them for £25- I would go for it.
I think the SA ones are £35-40, which is similar in price to what the Worcestershire lines cost normally.
Seems like a good deal to me. I have heard good things about the Worcestershire and at that price it looks hard to beat.

It is a cracking line. No reason to suppose the DT is not the same line (but longer) and equally good - although mine is bright yellow...and I mean 'Yellow Submarine' yellow...so you may need to be dressed like this man when you take it oot the box Regardez CLaG

Thank you gentlemen - one and all. Very helpful advice so far and much appreciated. CLag - got a pair of pink tinted 'Lennon' style glasses which I often 'sport' on the riverbank so the line should take on the appearance of light terracotta with a hint of vermilion according to my knowledge and understanding of the various colour transparent theories - Sgt Pepper on the ipod (A Day in The Life) and we are off ! The Shaky W looks a good bet unless someone comes in with something else. Thanks guys - seriously.

I'll vote for the Cortland 444 in salmon pink for a DT line. Your wife might even prefer the colour to beige It is a supple and very long lasting line. Mark

I do not use DT lines any more, but back in the 90s' I used either the cortland 444SL or the SA ultra 3. Both cracking lines in their day, and I am sure they would not be out of their depth along with many modern day WF lines.

Hi Guys - like I said at the top of this page this outfit is for the missus. As a result of a previous post on the thread titled "Pflueger Trion" I listened to what was said about this particular reel which I already suspected would good reports for its reliability and general value for money.....perfectly good for her indoors (at least it wasn't a Snowbee!). Someone then went on to suggest the Diawa Lochmor 10/11 as an alternative and that it had a vastly superior drag system to the Pflueger so I looked it up and liked its more traditional appearance - and quite a few bob cheaper to boot. That was it - Lochmor it is with DT10 Shaky Worcesters (Floater and Med Sink) as recommended. Phoned Norris today to do the biz and was told by the guy there that the LM would NOT hold a Full Floater Shaky with anything more than 50yds of backing owing to its bulk in the middle section compared to other makes / profiles of line. The Shaky Med Sink was OK but not the FF. His advice was to go for the DT10 Aircel Floater instead due to its slimmer profile. He also stated that the Lochmor would probably shatter if dropped on a hard surface due to its composite alloy construction and that the drag system was EXACTLY the same on both reels with the parting shot that "all fly reels, models and makes come out of one of three factories in China". For info : I discovered after the deal had been done that the Aircel FF was only 25 yds - hope she doesn't get too frustrated with having to put out such a short line . Anyhow, thanks for the help gentlemen and regards to all as always.
