I have just had my Rio Windcutter replaced free of charge as it was full of cracks 1m either side of the colour change from the head to the running line. These cracks have appeared in less than 12 months from new with very little use, my old old WC got 5 years of pain with no sign of any damage.
The new line that I have been supplied with has yellow running line, a yellow head and a green loading section of approx 12 to 15 feet in between the 2 yellow sections. Can anyone tell me if this green section should be inside the tip ring, outside the tip ring or back at the reel end? This new system seems a little more complicated than the old one of just having the colour change in the tip ring. I have not had time to out and give it a cast yet due to the river being on its bones.

I normally have a couple of inches of the green running line outside the rod. Really depend on the sinking leader lenght, size of fly and type of water I am fishing. I find it works a treat

I have used the windcutter twice sine making the initial post and you can use upto 1.5m of overhang and still cast well. I still cant see why the green loading section has to be so large as it is not as precise as the old version, also I have noticed that the line is not as smooth and a supple as the older model. The windcutter is falling down my pecking order of favorite lines and will get much less use this season.
