The NessC has been mentioned a few times recently.
Could someone please post a photo or give the recipe?

Here is a photo of one of my own. The fly was designed by expert tyer John Sinclair of Inverness for Ness Castle fishing, where I currently work. A great all round fly.

If you want to tie your own the materials are:
tail : Orange, yellow, purple bucktail mixed together + some crystal hair.
Rear body: Pearl tinsel
Front body: Purple floss.
Rib: Silver oval.
Rear Hackle : Yellow
Front Hackle : Orange
I prefer to use the silver or gold partridge hooks, I think it adds something a little extra to the fly.

Having seen the pattern in this thread I tied up a few on some gold Salar doubles ahead of a recent trip to the Dee. I'm pleased to report success, with a lovely fresh 12 pounder taking a size 7 NessC in the tail of Pol Slachd at Dinnet.
We had a pretty quiet week, with few fish apparently keen to head much west of Banchory.
Thanks to all for sharing the pattern, it's earned its place in the fly box now.

I've just noticed that i have one of these patterns in my fly box. I ordered some pot belly pigs to take up to the Beauly last year and the chap who tied them from Inverness area through one in for free and said give this a try sometime.
Think i'll give it a go next week on the Dee...

just as toucan says above - saw the thread and tied some up saturday for a trip to the mainland - took three fish for us from the findhorn two weeks ago - size 8 and 10 - well worth a chuck

I'll go with that name!
Far too big and bright for the Dee in May, better for a peat stained river.
Unless im just confused?

Terrific fly! I've had success in August and September on the Dee and Don.
I tie the rear of the body with the purple floss then put pearl mylar over the floss leaving the top of the body just the floss. The floss is Glo-brite No.15

how would you adapt it to a tube Gordon? - i have tied plenty of doubles, but in larger sizes on a tube or waddington would you tie the hair all around like a willie gunn with a splash of purple hair pirled in, or tie it like a giant fly with a long tail and the head hackles?

I tie them the same on tubes as I do on standard hooks.
You can always put an extra set of hackles half way up the body, this looks realy good on the tubes version. A set of Jungle cock eyes is also a nice touch.

Simple With your tube in the vice, Tie in a tail of yellow, orange & purple bucktail along with some crystal flash. Tie the body and hackles as per the hook version. This is one that I used regularly.
