Does anybody have the pattern for this fly? I've seen anglers using it on the Tay but have never bothered to ask what the pattern is.

Katy D is a very reliable killer on the Tay/Tummel system as well as most other rivers. Has all the advantages of a Willie Gunn and Munro Killer rolled into one. Hope dressing is clear from attached image. If not let me know & I will post details.

Jimthefish,
Thanks for that. Would I be right in saying that it is basically a Munro's Killer with a Cascade Tail?

Fruin,
Slightly different to Cascade tail - Katy D has some black bucktail in it as well as the orange and yellow + 3 or 4 crystal hair fibres. Pearl would do but I prefer the greeny/black crystal hair. The wing is black squirrel or whatever on top of a wound doubled orange hackle. Tag & ribbing is gold oval.

Should have added that the fly was originally tied by a Tummel fisher called Colin Oliver who named the fly after his granddaughter. His original version was tied on a treble with 3 distinct bunches of black, orange & yellow tied separately round the tail of the treble. I prefer to mix the hair to give a sparser effect than the original.

Indeed, a handsome fly.
Now as it happens I'm off to the Tay/ Tummel next month, and could use some inspiration. Anyone know where I could source a few?

Rob,
What sizes are you looking for?

Am I right in thinking that the Katy D is more or less the same as a Tummel Shrimp, except that the Tummel Shrimp has the hackles wound in front of the wing (like a Cascade) and omits the JC eyes?
I've never been quite sure of the correct dressing of a Tummel Shrimp, but that's how I've tied it based on pictures.
