Hi all, I have recently been busy at the vice tying up various patterns for the coming season and thoyght id post a few pics to see what your thoughts were. Now, these are a kinda PBP's crossed with a Francis type (with whatever else is thrown in there). Ive also attached some wee BMD doubles (hopefully for the grilse later) I'm up for some constructive criticism ie proportions etc as this is my first attempt at pot belly variants.....so be gentle... ;D Cheers Clydebuilt

Hardygem, Those flies look great, very shrimpy. Have you used fox tail in the big orange patterns?
easky, I quite like the look of the BMD hooks, doddle to tie on so hpefully they will swim well in the water. I use them on snake fly patterns aswell and they seem to give a better "keel" action with the longer bodies, i've yet to swim them but i'm sure they'll be ok. Incidently, the sizing seems a little off, maybe thats just down to the large gape but they do seem larger somehow!

Cheers speycaster,
I was trying to stick to the "carrot" shaped bodies which is how i interpreted the Frances type bodies, crossed with a PBP does give a chunkier fly i have to admit. I do prefer a sparser fly myself but you never know!! I will be tying up some slimmer patterns for thinner water and hopefully they'll do the buisness this year. I, like you, quite like the BMD's, both for attaching to tubes and waddies but also for tying on, can't really tell the difference between the BMD's and the Loop tube doubles, except of course the extra £3 for the Loops!
Cheers CB

ifind i lose less fish when using we doubles instead of trebles ,one of the reasons for this is if the fish turns while taking the fly the third hook can be used as a lever by the fish to free itself from the hook , this year all my seatrout have been hooked on singles and the hook up rate has not altered at all tight lines billy p
