It used to make me sick as a parrot when i had to get a chopper from Aberdeen to the West of Shetland oil field, flying over all the great rivers on the way up the East Coast then land in Thurso to refuel before setting off again.
One day we were flying very low and you could almost make out the anglers dotted up the banks on the Don, Dee, Ythan, then the Thurso, Talk about torture!!!

Not had any time off sick due to fishing yet! but have booked the afternoon off after seeing the river in the morning on quite a few occasions. I remember doing this a few years ago, the river was perfect at 7am so I booked the afternoon off and then caught my first ever salmon on fly within 10 minutes of starting fishing. The last time I tried this the river had come up 4 feet and fishing was a no go by the time I got down to the river.

I'm self-employed, so getting the priorities right can be very difficult.
Work or fish, work or fish?.....fish.

Yes definitley had time off work due to fishing. This was AFTER fishing - so hungover I could not get up. Filled in a leave slip describing "too hungover' and was allowed to put it down as "admin". Who says the truth does not work?
St Patricks day on Morphy d**e on Esk - three springers to wooden devon fished like a fly. 1996. Changed times.

I've turned in late a few times after a long night's sea trouting. ;D
First ever salmon I caught was during lunchtime at work! I'd hooked and lost a salmon in the same pool the previous evening. I was working on a nearby site and couldn't resist going back - fish took second cast, a 7lb bar of silver from the Clwyd. Had a few more casts and got back to work.
