Sorry Dave,
I didn't realise there would be another Silverstoat. I chose it because it's one of my favourite flies. If you feel strongly about it, I can change it!

To avoid confusion, the old silverstoat on this website is now known as Leo. Dave(Silverstoat) is now silverstoat.

I didn't post on here under my usual nom de plume - I was convinced some one else MUST be calling themselves "The Otter Startler" and now I find it unused - damn!

In a sense, Dave's right that clinging to user names are silly, but it is certainly useful to be able to identify someone across a number of forums.
For example, earlier today I responded to a post made (by a member of this forum), on another forum, in which I mentioned something I had knew about him from his posting on yet another forum! I've never met the guy, but I was able to identify him through his user name. As Dave says, he's been Silver Stoat for as long as I've been playing at this forum lark (arguably too long...), and it's useful to be able to identify people like him wherever they turn up.
What I don't understand is the sort of 'cyber-squatting' that occasionally turns up. It happened to someone when the Fish and Fly forum moved to Proboards, and apparently here also ('Flybri' cf 'The-Real-FlyBri'). Brian is someone else who I can readily identify on a number of forums, but he has had to adopt a different name here.
Incidentally, I'm not for one minute suggesting that Leo was 'cyber-squatting' Dave's username, and it was handsome of him to stand down so readily.

If only! Wouldn't mind a couple of free days on a good river! No seriously, it was no big deal swapping as Dave is known to many others by the name and I'm unlikely to be online that much.
