Salmonking, Try downloading ZoneAlarm Pro for detecting and deleting spyware. As for virus protection thye best I have used is AVG. Norton will slow your machine and is an absolute swine to take off your hard drive. You need to use an un-installer from the Norton website to get it off. Another good programe to download is Resistery Mechanic. Run all three once a fortnight and your machine should run like a dream. Hope this helps you out.

You can download AVG Free edition anyway (it works well) but anti-virus programs are not as good as anti-spyware for killing Trojans etc. Have a look here: forum.grisoft.cz/freeforum/list.php?4 The 'sticky' "...How To Clean An Infected Computer..." gives you a procedure for using various anti-spy/virus programmes (all freeware) that usually gives a positive result. I suggest you read the whole thing as the information towards the end regarding re-setting windows file options is important and really should be done before you begin. Good luck, Dave.

As Speycaster said, you will be able to temporarily disable the firewall to allow you to download the necessary programs. Have a look in the fire wall's help pages and it will tell you how - it's really quite simple. I had a Trojan infection last week and using the programs listed in the article, linked to in my earlier post, and in the suggested order, I have cleaned my PC completely.
Dave.
