I watched this tonight with my old man who kindly reminded me that we went on holiday to grimistar (spelling?) when i was 7. Absolutely amazing it was. Can't believe i've been there, would love to go back with my rod! If you haven't seen this dvd, get a hold of it, i've never seen anything like it. Truly wonderful

I've never seen this dvd but believe it is superb. It's actually at Uig Lodge on the Fhorsa system. I know the area well and have fished the 2 lochs a few times. If you were at Grimersta with your father I've probably met you! I worked there from 1983 to 1999. You would not believe the cheating that goes on in some of these videos - been there when a couple have been done. I'm not suggesting for a minute this happened in Life on the edge but "a Fisher for all Seasons" springs to mind.....

I can well believe it, i have a lot of experince in film making from uni. Some of the things you'll do to get the right shot! Most of the time when you see a "take" it's the producer tugging the line while the angler acts surprised. It's idiotic, but gives the right effect for the viewer. Kind of ruins the magic!

Transporting a farmed salmon from a cage at sea, sticking a hook in its' mouth and filming it in a river being played - the pits!

I watched this DVD and it's excellent. All the takes definately look genuine. I have a 'Fisher for all Season's' on video. Thought it was really good, however I think I will re-watch it to see where they were cheating.

When watching these videos the viewer is often lured into thinking that the production team have turned up for a week or two and got all the footage. However, a lot of these videos, like Life on the Edge, are filmed over a period of about three years. This puts the amount of fish that they have caught on film into perspective.

That's exactly why it stands out Fruin. It's been thoroughly researched down to the finest detail but it is not evident that a lot of hard work and many years prodution has taken place due to this. That's the holy grail of producing one of these programmes-to make it look effortless

The 'Life on the Edge' DVD has interviews at the end with the film makers. It took them 5 years to make.
