What do you lads get up to when you have some time to squander when not working/fishing? Apart from wine swilling , Italian & French , I'm a guitar picker of very little repute mainly playing stuff by Martin Simpson , Richard Thompson and Bert Jansch. So you could say wine, women& song , only I would tend to leave out the women. They only seem to cause probs. ;D Any other fellow sufferers out there?

Watching football, shooting, drinking and playing the odd game of football. As I am quite keen on all of the above I try to combine at least 2 during my spare time. I need to give up work to free up more hours to go fishing.
Want to get another sportsbike as soon as cash will allow, its been 18 months since the GSXR got sold, oh how I miss it. Trouble is I now spend all the money I save by not running a bike on more fishing so probably won't be able to buy another unless there is a serious financial change for the better.

29 views up to now and only one reply. Think some of you lads must have some dodgy hobbies that you're not letting on about!! B.

I went through a spell of collecting Peter Glaze memorabilia (Leslie Crowthers 'sidekick' on Crackerjack) for a wee while. These days I get a lot of enjoyment from playing pub league blow football and Gurning - not necessarily at the same time. I also collect rare and unusual music like a recent find which was a previously unreleased demo tape of Aled Jones duetting with Lemmy on a reworking of some of the classic Lewis waulking songs.....braw min ! Probably think of more but thats another post

I have similar hobbies to you ibm59, playing guitar in a rock music covers band (Green Day, Killers, Fratellis etc), it doesn't pay very well but gets me out from under her feet. Drinking is a particular favourite pastime of mine, single malts, wines of any origin and almost anything else except advocaat. If I get time, I'll tinker with the old "1 litre Ferrari eater" (sportsbike) in the garage or go watch amateur football (Bradford City) but I'd rather be polishing my rod, ahem. Sinkingtip, you need professional help my friend

You've got some set of nerves there , Salmondan. I'd rather go to the dentist than play in public, CLOSE friends only. And as for motorbikes , nothing on God's clean earth would entice me onto one of them again. Sold the Les Paul and Strat a long time ago. With ears the size of mine it hurt playing them. ST , take Dan's avice. Get some serious help. Resp. B.

You've got some set of nerves there I have the same feeling every time I get ON stage as I have every time I get OFF the bike- absolute terror , or is that technically called an adrenaline rush? 150 people watching is roughly the same sort of feeling as 150mph. Either way, that's usually my cue to add alchohol to the equation.

Just back from the golf course. If it's sunny I go golfing, if it's cr*p weather then fishing. Like abit of sailing on Loch Lomond (usually got 2 Rapalas and a toby out the back though !).

Play football three times a week, fly-tying, crosswords, and aspiring novelist. Sadly, not musical - wish I was.

Donnie - Anthony Newley 1931 - 1999. Born London - died Los Angeles. Actor and singer. Likened to singers such as Tony Bennet, Deano Martino and Uncle Frank. Married several times one of which being to Joan Collins. Influenced David Bowie amongst others and his biggest UK hit was 'Pop Goes The Weasel'. A great showman and a truly singular 'chanter'.
Hornet - you are a 'tic man ? - you are welcome in my fishing party anytime - "mi casa es tu casa".

I do not seem to have much time for hobbies these days; between family and work. I still give the guitar a rattle. I used to gig from Aberdeen to Soho, but now only manage an audience of three while I play kiddies tunes to my kids. I like to cycle, but this is restricted to commuting these days. Keep saying that I'll get back into swimming, running and hill walking, but don't seem to find the time. Walking and camping with a fishing rod used to be a favourite of mine, but I'll need to wait until the boys are older before I start that lark again! Anything that involves drink is a good idea!
