I've been sat here in the arid southwest watching the met office rainfall radar for the last few days and it looks like some of you have had a good drop of water. However I see from Springers comments on the Tyne thread that it's not had much effect there. Has anyone seen a spate this week? The Exe nearly came up to a very low level on Friday but is on it's way back down again now The met office is predicting rain in all areas for the end of the month but I know better than to get my hopes up Andy

Well it has ended here on the Deveron - we have now got a level of nearly 3 foot above normal. The biggest level since 10 April this year. We now await the "huge" run of fish that have been waiting off the coast!!!!!!!!

We also have a lot more water.the Tay at "our bit" was at 5" at one point yesterday and the day before had risen 6" from-3 ,the catches dropped off markedly, during last night it was over a foot on the gauge but dropping quickly. I will be down there this afternoon, hopefully the green algae which has been a plague the past few days will have been flushed away but I know that being realistic there is almost no chance. For sure the catches will fall as the fish run through our area but the weights may rise as we begin (I hope) to catch some of the bigger summer fish. However,we will get what we will get

just one would do me fine for starters! I cant handle the prospect of no fish in my first year!!!..... for one my work mates will never let me hear the end of it! (not that they have ever had a Salmon...... but they know that i've been out a lot)
Apparently there were fish aplenty going over the weir in town at about 6am this morning... but the river has dropped fast and the Isla didnt seem to rise at all... so hopefully that will help to hold the fish up a bit for Monday....... i'll be up and out for 8am!! here's hoping!
At worst i'll have a nice pic of the river to show post!.... and i've got a new line to try (Hardy Mach2)
