Played in Fife this wkend and Lundin Links for the first time. It is an epic course, the best i have ever played. Had Scott and Ogilvy playing behind us warming up for the Open, and was great to watch them playing at close proximity.

Why does golf / golfers rattle your cage WG? We have jokes, favourite bands and songs, even spelling lessons ;D, as asides to the business of salmon fishing, why not golf or indeed fashion?if that is your thing With reference to your last sentence perhaps you would like to start a thread on modern fishing fashion to complement those on modern spey casting, rods, lines etc. I'm sure Ghilling at the top end of the market, as you do, has provided you with an in depth knowledge of fashion trends on the salmon scene. What should one be wearing next salmon season?

Alness is my most favouritest golf course. Anyone remember Caddy Shack (Chevy Chase circa 1980)? My only round at Alness was akin to the Bishop in CS. "There is a god!"

I take it you'll be turning up for your APC dressed as Coco the feckin' Clown as well then boy.
WG is right-no more mention of golf.
Salmon fishing offers far more of an opportunity than Golf to get dressed as a gentleman, nay chap, should whilst in pursuit of a sporting quarry, except for the ultimate exclusion of those Simms "Max Wall" Fleece jodhpurs which are as close a sartorial step towards heroin addiction as I have ever the displeasure to witness in the field. The fact that the wearer of the aforesaid offending garment is denied by the very nature of their construction the opportunity to display a smart contrasting garter or sock flash is frankly doubly disturbing and offensive.

I'd rather gouge out my right eye with a red hot spoon than play golf again. For the one and only month that I tried it the average "swinger's" sarcastic comments made me feel as uncomfortable as a very small nun at a penguin shooting party.
