A friend of mine was up at Logie beat on the North Esk today and caught a very red (returned) salmon of 38" in length and a 20" girth at the dorsal fin , Any ideas for the weight guys ? I have a chart somewhere but I'm a lazy sod....................

The formula is Weight (lbs) = (length + 1/3 of the length x girth squared) divided by 1000, where the measurements are in inches. The fish weight calculator on the Pitlochry manies site tends to overestimate the weight. Graham - tried unsuccessfully to get your formula to work - but this seems to work: - Weight (lbs) = (length + 1/3 of the length) x girth squared divided by 1000, where the measurements are in inches. (ie second bracket moved)
