Anyone else got an ipod? Spent about 4 hours putting my collection on, deleted it from the computer to save space, then the next time i put one album on it wiped everything else off! How in the name of the wee man do i add songs to it without wiping the existing catalogue! Help!

I don't think you can I just leave everything on the computer. Everytime you connect the IPod it copies everything on the computer, as you have just discovered

That seems ridiculous - I'll seek advice from my 16 year old daughter, they do come in handy occasionally.

Thanks chaps, unfortunately i have a massive collection and even half of it is slowing the computer down so i can't leave it on as i need it for work. Surely there must be some way of adding one album at a time? Seems completely idiotic otherwise

"New Apple Technology"
Apple Computer announced today that it has developed a computer chip that can store and play music in women's breast implants. The iBreast will cost $499 with 4 GB of memory or $599 with 8 GB.
This is a major breakthrough because women are always complaining about men staring at their breasts and not listening to them!

I think (not 100%) there is a check box when you first install it where it asks you if you want to automatically update everytime you plug in.Try and see if you can uncheck it.
I took everything off the pc and copied them to disc as i also had problems with the pc slowing down. I should really have added another hard drive to store my music.

Yep agree with last post - best option on a PC is to buy a USB hard drive - you can get them pretty cheap - £80 for one that will back up all your data. You can then copy all your CD's onto this BTW - my wife has an Apple laptop and this doesnt seem to have the same issue in terms of iTunes library slowing the machine down..then again thats not exactly a surprise .. That said I used to be a big fan of Macs in the 80's until you couldn't get any decent software to run on them - much better for music and photography - everything works first time without having to load stupid drivers and rebooting every 30 secs!!

A usb drive can be had for £20 or £30 these days- Also handy for backing up other bits and pieces should your main drive ever fail.
Modern PCs shouldn't have any problem at all with an i-tunes set-up- It is just slightly older models that will struggle.

I got a 250 gb drive off Amazon to keep my Itunes and digital photo's on and it works fine. Cost about 60 quid I think (Its a western digital my book)
you can also set your ipod up to update manually instead of automatically through Itunes.

a 20 gig drive should back up most i-tunes libraries. They are practically giving them away now..
