I just had a look at the Gaula website to check out the first days catches,I see that the top ten fish caught today, so far , seem to average very close to.................10........kilos Various friends are heading there over the next few weeks and as usual, will be slavering by now and by the time they return they will be havering ! ;D

Had a look on the website this morning as well. Water is still a bit cold but it's dropping off nicely. Hopefully it will contunie to drop and temps increase. Snow levels are less this year so a more normal season is predicted...unlike last year. Fish have been caught and seen as far up as Malum Vinsnes...above Rognes...which is a good sign this early.
It hasn't started as well as the Lochy however (-:

Rumour has it that Willie Gunn is over ravishing the Gaula. Anyone who has heard from him?

Sadly for WG I imagine they're not desperate though not even for a man wearing plus fours in 30 degrees ;D Ah there speak two men who do not understand the peacock theory. You have to stand out from the crowd.

Hope its not too hot in Norway Malcolm,
And that your Sunray Shadow dressings are not coming undone. I hate it when you find the wing is a bit loose.

Aye Malcolm, but I think there's more chance of a Foggie Virgin than a Gaula salmon by the sound of it.

Dennis,
Do you have the web site for the nature centre ?
I'm off to the Gaula next week for 5 days fishing.
Any other tips/tactics from others would be appreciated. Taking a 15 foot rod and Monteith multi-tip line / mixed fly box.
I'm fishing SJFF at Storen and staying at Voldoien Gaard.
cheers,
Tom

Does anyone have experience of this beat? www.fishmaster.fi/Gaulapoolit-english.htmIt's just downstream of Storen with accommodation at Hage or Gyllteigen farm. If you can suggest any other reasonably priced beats on the Gaula (for next year) that would be great. Thanks Dave
