Just wondering what kind of season is everyone having?Looking at my local rivers there does seem to be more fish about this year ,just wondering if everyone across the country is seeing the same pattern. alan

Cant tell as the Exmoor rivers haven't had any water since May. The spring runs do seem to be improving slowly in the Exe but is still very hit and miss. The grilse run on the Frome was better this year, it lasted a whole two weeks! That said I expect more fish run off two tides on the Spey or Tweed than ran the Frome in those two weeks, or even a year.

Bit slower than last year, but just past the half centuary.

Lack of water on the English NE rivers during the summer, but when its been there the fish certainly have. At least half my season catch usually comes in October though, so early days yet. Poor season on the Spey then Malcolm. If a competent fisher like Dave can't catch a fish there then he might be better off going to the Dee.

The Spey is having one of the best seasons for a good few years. I predict the 10 000 mark will be passed this year.

I must be in the wrong place at the wrong time, below average season for me so far on Findhorn, N ESK, Teith and Tay.
Am fishing the Brae Water 2 days next week perhaps that will redress the balance!

That's good news, will be on beats 5 and 3.
Is there anything out of the ordinary I should be aware of or will floating lines and various Cascade/Ally variations do the trick as normal? The weather looks settled although night temperatures are creeping down pulling down the water temps with them.

My season has not really started yet. The Exe has been running on empty since god only knows when. The same with all the SW rivers. Had a brief tussle with a Dart sea trout in June, but fortunately Exerod put me onto a fish on the Frome, a very lively chap, thanks Andy.
I have 3 days on the Alness in a couple of weeks, then back home and pray for rain!
