Despite all the publicity about catch and release and the poor numbers of fish being reported from the Tay system, the rods on Cluniemore (opposite Portnacraig) seem hell-bent on killing everything they catch. I know of 5 killed so far this week, having seen 3 of them knocked on the head while fishing myself. Today I heard the most incredible arguement in defense of the "Clunie-Killers" - along the lines of "look at the distance these guys have travelled - I don't blame them for killing everything". The distances involved (France and Belgium) hardly compare to those faced by the considerable numbers of anglers who travel to Russia etc. but still return their fish. Part 2 of the defense was that it is no longer legal to shoot mergansers. A merganser will do more damage in 2 or 3 dives than an angler killing a fish..... Absolutely beyond belief! The sooner this beat changes hands the better.

Yes seen plenty of evidence of the fishmongers on that beat, from the start of the season a lot of them use the worm and use the excuse we had to chapp it because it was a bleeder

We now have 645 members on this forum. If we all went to France and chapped 10 frogs each that would be 6,450 frogs. Then they would go hungry! ;D (Apologies to any French members)

Donnie that's a belter, as nice a spring salmon as I have seen in a long time and a reminder why this game is so addictive. Thank f**k it wasn't caught by the "rods" on the other side
