In March the wife wants to go and see her 91-year-old grandmother, who conveniently lives 3 miles from Usk. As it will be the beginning of the season does anyone on this forum know where I can get a day ticket to fish the Usk near Usk town? And where are the best places to go? I know I could go to the Wye & Usk Foundation but there stretch starts near Abergaveny, and as time will be limited I'd rather spend it fishing than driving. You help as always will be greatly appreciated.

call Jean Williams of the infamous Sweets Fishing Tackle in Usk 01291 672 552. She's certainly your best first port of call. As you're well before the catch and kill period, you should be able to get a decent beat.

That early I would try the Wye rather than the Usk. The Usk run tends to be a bit later, so I understand. For fishing on teh Usk near Usk, you could also try MTAA, who have a beat not far away (Kemey's).
