Too true. I'm not against spinning if the conditions or pool is not suitable for the fly. Hope your season continues to be a good one.

Four salmon in two days, the rain is certainly suiting the upper beat on Dryburgh. Well done George on the catches.

Lets keep our fingers crossed that the lift has brought a few fresh fish in and we get a good late Spring run in all the East Coast rivers which have been blighted by the dry spell

George also said that if it keeps on raining then the river would not be really fishable until wednesday thats if it stops raining.

The Leader must have caught some of the heavy rain we had in Edinburgh yesterday Interesting how the few fresh fish in the system seem to have run up to the middle beats. Lets hope that the rise is sufficient to give the riverbed stones a bit of a clean. They are covered with algae and manky at present which also makes them a b*****d to wade

Tuesday was Giorgio's prognosis to me at 3ish-maybe Sunday lunch's claret as taken a day off it.
Leaderfoot rocks just showing at 2 ish when I came over the A68 and a nice head of water at UH with it dibbling over the apron and into Little Davey at Sprouston/Hendersyde.
Greeny/Beery coloured but no colour/sediment showing in the white water and no sourness from any road washings. It was clear when I walked the banks at Tweedhill at 11.30 am as well and we saw the vees of running fish quietly working their way in.
Looks like its a rise rather than it "coming away" as they'd say in the trade.

Tres interessant. Despite the almost constant rain today up here in Edinburgh, according to the 7.45pm SEPA gauges the Tweed is now steady having dropped back a bit (11 inches at Boleside and 1ft 3 at Sprouston which I imagine would put Dryburgh at around 1ft 1). The Dee has also dropped back a good bit from this morning. Maybe a good subject for another post - the accuracy of the SEPA gauging stations? Certainly UF is often out of kilter with the Sprouston gauge a few miles downstream

Looks like the bit of rain that there has been has certainly done wonders for Dryburgh today. Well done George and fellow fisher people. Looks like it has been a great day.

Looks like Dryburgh has had a good all round. Five salmon and two sea tout. There are either early grilse or springers that have arrived with the last lot of water. Either way nice to see fish being caught again.

Rubbish s.k. flamethrowers, cascades, allys, they are know in the trade as duffers flies! Speaking from voice of experience i would use - munro killer, willie gunn, silver wilkie, for low,- for high water- willie gunn, comet, black and yellow(tosh) and dont forget your wet 2!
