Lower Pavilion

Hi all.
I was fishing Lower Pavilion yesterday with Salmonking,the weather forecast was supposed to be rain but turned out to be just drizzle at times and seemed to be perfect salmon fishing conditions.
This is Ghillie Scott Povey making casting look easy with salmonkings 15ft Bruce & Walker

Sk had one that took in the cauld pool on the dangle but unfortunately it mustn't have been very well hooked and lost it.Then we swapped beats and as usual he pulls a double figure fish (11lb) out of the water at the island stream I just not so long ago covered.

The fish had been in the system a while as it was well colored.
After lunch we went to the next two beats I started at the battery and had a little pull but that was all SK had no luck down at cowies ,we swapped beats again and by this stage I thought I was going to blank but as there was still a few hours to go so all hope was not lost.I saw a fish show at the bottom of the stream I was covering then I was rewarded with a crunch take, it wasn't a big at fish at 4 lb but was very welcome indeed and just topped off an enjoyable day all round.

We decided to fish on after the Ghillie went home but to no avail but Sk managed to capture a photo of me casting cack handed of the left shoulder I find this easier than putting the left hand up

It dosn't always go to plan he could have quite easily got me making a right dogs dinner of it. there was 2 other fish caught on the day 1 at 4lb and 1 at 9lb .

Well done boys, I noticed it was a big day on the Tweed Yesterday. I've also heard that Stoater had a fish last week from one of the lower beats - congrats.

It's nice to see some forum members 'walking the walk!'

Thanks to mr P, for a great day,,,and a good laugh ;D
especially at our casting,,,well mine should i say,we also had a good crack with Mick McDaid a.p.g.a.i, who i shall be getting some tuition in the close season of course.
All the fish were released by the way

Nice post Flee and some great pics too. Haven't fished Pavillion for a while so that brought back some good memories of the beat. Methinks it might just be a wee bit bigger today !

SK went Fishing?? How unusual I am envious lads. I sat at home looking at the driving rain out of the window, thinking everywhere North of Penrith was getting the same treatment and that I was missing nothing. Sounds like you had a lot of laughs and some good sport.

Mick seems to hover around Lower Pavillion most days, he was there in April when I had a days fishing, touting for business, handing out his business cards.

Many thanks to Simon(tynetraveller),for a rod on l pavillion(sat)
had a hard day's fishing,shared the rod with flee,a few knocking about on the lower part of the beat,but to no avail,we spent the afternoon at the very top of the beat,cocking up snake roll's etc ;D,not only us but Scott as well,having tried a wonder cast
proceeded in slamming a treble(14)in to the back of his upper arm :Dafter 4 attempts ,i eventually released him ;D
no wonder he was nervous beforehand

Scott could get no peace from a guy called WISHAW WULL
who was phoning every so often to say another fish had been taken on the RAPALLA .
at a beat further down river.
