Hello Bulltrout
I am a member of FFF, but only joined last October. I've had a good look at the North Tyne stretches, and have concluded that they need some water to fish - so far this has not coincided with my time off, so I haven't fished very much this year. I haven't looked at the other rivers yet - what about you?

hi there magpie
Had a brief look on the till early on in the season but gale force winds made it very difficult, the water looked good tho. I have had a couple of trips up on the north tyne but like you say the river been very low, took a 3lb sea trout on my first visit caught on a cascade from the ridings beat.. Never looked on the coquet or wear stretches but have been informed the coquet stretch is good water.

I am thinking of joining this club next year too. The chairman is James Hardy apparently..
Any other members on here recommend it or would you go for Northumbrian Anglers AA?

wouldn't recommend joining n.a.f,unless you live near the tyne.the fed water in my opinion isn't worth traveling any big distances for,its handy for a cast if you live local but if your wanting to catch fish on a regular basis at any time of the year forget it.

Hmmm I may be relocating to Northumbria next season - where would you suggest for a bit of regular salmon fishing..?

The Felling FF water on the Tyne is quite high up the system and is probably best classed as backend water. It does offers a chance of a fish from around May time onwards but the best of the fishing will be aug/sept/oct.
Tony is spot on with his advise about the Fed (as he should be considering he fishes it every day!!!). It can provide some superb days at little cost but in the main is hard work for not a lot of reward. However, if your going to be local and are looking for some where to have a couple hours fishing of a night time with a good bunch of lads then its fine.
