Hi - Has anybody fished the Horncliffe Beat on the bottom Tweed ?
Any good in the early season and Summer as they seem to have syndicate rods available ?
Was wondering if it was worth enquiring about

I have fished Horncliffe a few times, a good summer and low water beat. It is last but one best on the Tweed and abviously all fish must pass through it.
If you watch the river levels on fishtweed the Norham bridge levels should be below 6" for the lower beats to fish best.
Best of the months to fish are from May to September, but in low water will fish all year, 2003 was a good example, thye stopped counting at 705 and probably had more than 1,000 fish for the year, so I am told.
The beat has good hut and a very good boatman, Eric, you can contact him through the beat website.

Thanks for the info Sagefly Went for a little looksee yesterday, not an easy place to find ! The river beside the huts about half a mile downstream from the castle looks ideal Running about two feet on the gauge so difficult to see what it would be like for wading but the website says easy for wading. Thanks once again

bemersyde would also worth looking at if you want to join a syndicate - beautiful beat that produces reasonable amount of fish for the 'syndicate' season
