I landed a 2lb grayling on a size 12 teal blue and silver treble at the weekend (Welsh Dee at Corwen)
What it gods name was the grayling playing at?
Do I win a prize?!
Any other anglers caught unusual species on a salmon fly?

I had an 8oz Wye grayling on a size 10 double black shrimp 2 years ago, about 5 minutes after landing an 11lb salmon.

It never fails to amaze me when I hook small trout on a salmon fly or when using a flying C. Sometimes the trout are not much bigger than the lure ;D

I've had grayling on a 1" stoat's tail treble, brownies on everything from small flies to a 2" willie gunn, dace on low water salmon flies, parr on anything that passes them, and perch seem particularly fond of an ally's shrimp. I managed eels on a fast sinker while fishing for sea trout. My friend managed a huge chub on an Irish shrimp pattern. The best fight is when you hook into mullet at the bottom end of a river, while sea trout fishing. I've had some huge mullet in the River Leven, and boy do they go!!! I even managed to foul hook a stickleback on Saturday. Unfortunately, salmon seem more elusive

Grayling seem to be quite fond of Ally's shrimp as I have caught quite a few whilst out salmon fishing, I have also caught them at night on sea trout patterns. I have caught loads of chub on tube flies and roach, dace, perch and a golden orfe on various flies. the strangest fish I have seen caught on fly was an 8lb bream it was caught on a trout fishery using a small black buzzer fished on a floating line and it wasn't foul hooked either.

Well I can add a cow! Although I would not call a size16 Kingfisher butcher a salmon fly. Fortunately I was trout fishing and only had 3lb line. Caught it on the ankle on my back cast. Had it on for about 30 secs before it broke me!! This August I did even better. While trying out my new Oracle on the Dochart I was so engrossed that I forgot to shorten my line having left the bank and waded some 4 yards into the water. First cast from the water my size 10 Cascade gently alighted on a sheep grazing close to the water on the far bank. This time I had a 12 lb leader. At first the sheep just looked up. As I gave an ever so gentle pull the sheep bolted and in seconds I was down to the backing. I pointed the rod straight at the sheep, turned up the drag and palmed the reel and bingo out came the hook along with a tuft of wool. Don't make the joke - was I fishing Baa-less? I being getting that one from my mates ever since.

Did you fluff the cast? Woolly Bugg*r on the dropper? You should have tried it with a collie dog, it might have ran faster.
Okay, I'll get my coat!!!
