here's a belter of a story for you all..... and one which is a bit concerning.

The animla Liberation Front, which is a movement geared toward animal rights, and on average each year carries out 1,200 plus acts of "freedom" has started to target Scotland in the last week.

Last week two Deer farms in Fife had their fencing removed during the night and nearly 500 Deer escaped. but since then they appear to have turned their attention to fish.

A cage farm in Oban had all its nets slashed and lost thousands of Halibut into the sea. The farm was then vandalised to the point that every part of the site was damaged beyond repair. The damage on the environmet of such a large escape is as yet unknown.

The ALF then turned their attentions to a trout fishery in Fife where they appear to have used syamag or a similar chemical to force fish to the surface in an attempt to "liberate" them, by netting them into a tank and "releasing" them into a river. They however got the concentration wrong and killed some 1,500 fish whilst liberating 100!! The owners insurance will not cover the attack as it is calssed as an act of terrorism!

Then over the weekend, Beecraigs country park in Linlithgow was attacked, its Deer farm had the fences removed and its fishery and fish farm was vandalised.

I really hate to think what might happen if some of these "freedom fighters" decide to release an entire Trout farm into a river system..... or worse still a Salmon farm into the sea! If that were to happen then you would be talking about 200,000 to 4,000,000 non- native fish being released into our river systems and they would make every attempt to run the nearest river!

i live just about 7 miles from the fishery that was attacked and i have fished the nearby river for about 28 years, this story is just shocking and these people need to be caught and dealt with apropriatly and soon.

Once fished a pre-national championships practice match on a midlands canal when some of these people turned up to do there bit and wreck every ones day.Throughout the course of the day they picked on younger/older anglers who couldn't fight back,broke poles(expensive ones too with the caliber of anglers involved) threw stones in and ran away(terrifying that bit) and generally made a right nuisance of their selves(bit like naughty schoolboys).The police were called, property and vehicles had been damaged a nuisance caused but they weren't interested.Eventually one of my fellow rough northern anglers had had enough and packed up and went much to the amusement of these people,however shortly after his departure his heavily tattooed very big arms appeared through the hedge and invited the ring leader for a quiet chat (he beat him to a pulp)and after that every one lived happily ever after.The moral here? treat them as they treat others if they are prepared to live outside the law then let them suffer the consequences. I agree with your sentiments entirely Pedro and would be only to happy to deal with them that way myself, we have also to consider that not everyone has big tattooed arms capable of this.

We all pay our taxes (if I'm not feeling creative, that is ) for the Police and Authority's to deal with this sort of rabble on our behalf, sadly it would probably end up with me facing a charge of GBH.

I cant help feeling society is missing something?
