Hi everyone,
I thought I'd try further up the Annan at Applegarth on friday. Has anybody fished it or does anyone know anything about the beat?
Any info would be most appreciated.
Gary

never fished it Gary but I'm sure i walked that beat couple of years ago not a wide section of river and clear as gin. think keeping low profile would be of benefit.
thats saying it was applegarth might have been jardins hall think they are close? there were no angles on river to ask that day.

Never fished it but have often thought about it. You may already know this but sec. Andy on their website says just to phone or email him for current info. www.riverannan.co.uk/upper/ See foot of that page. Hope you have a good day.

think its just light rain but i find annan best after dropping away from big floods. And fresh fish coming from from mid annan this week. still benefiting from the flood last week. good luck anyway mate and maybe another mention in trout and salmon? on the cards!

macsalmo, Fished applegarth (top stretch at lochbrow) last wed. Nice open water but became busy late morning onwards. 11 fishers including 5 day tickets. Two members worming (they didn't move to allow fly fishers thru.) Seen very few fish. There will be fish lying just above the bridge on the opposite bank from where you park the car. There are two large wooden posts just below the surface over that side, one about six feet and the other about ten feet above the bridge, they are part of an old footbridge. After you bear right into lochbrow farm take 1st opening on your left between the buildings this takes you down to the water

Hi Childofthemist, thanks for the info. Did you try lower down the beat? Did you find if there were any areas that were slightly quieter It clearly states in the regs, to take a step down after each cast, wonder what would happen if you carried on straight through them I'll let you know the outcome Gary

Salmon 1 Macsalmo 0 (this is getting familiar) I fished Applegarth today, perfect water this morning in appalling conditions (gales and heavy rain). Only managed to fish up at the Lochbrow stretch as after we had our dinner the river coloured up and started rising quickly I only saw one small fish jump out in the morning up at the chopped down bushes stretch. No pulls or plucks. I thought that the 'Farm pool' was a nice pool, the fly fished well in there (from the opposite side to the farm). Never mind I had a nice wind swept day anyway. Theres always Brocklerigg

Gary. hard luck! Still you were on the water, better than working. Was the beat busy. Very heavy rain here all day so no chance of a few hrs fishing tomorrow. Looks like the seasons over for me this year. It has been my worst year ever, although I have fished far few days this year for one reason or another. cheers len

Hi Len,
The top beat was quiet, only me and my mate and two other lunatics daft enough to brave it ;D
Regards,
Gary
