The reality – human consumption is outstripping global wild fish stocks
According to the UN Food & Agriculture Organisation (FAO):
· 75% of the world's fish stocks are fully-exploited, over-exploited or depleted;
· 21% are moderately exploited;
· 1% are recovering from depletion;
· only 3% of global marine stocks are currently under-exploited;
· 7 of the top 10 marine fish species, which account for about 30% of all wild fish caught, are fully or over-exploited ?
