i know i am looking to the future though, just want to get an application in and get on the waiting list. so if i could find members who would help support me it would help alot. cant afford day tickets myself, wouldnt be worth my time or money. if anyone is in the association, contact me, it would be very much appreciated. all my fishing is catch and release, i dont eat fish, my father has taken me out every season since i was 2, literally when i could barley walk, i just have a passion for fishing.

i have been a member of the roe angling assiocation for 25 years but i am leaving it there is no fish only 1213 salmon went over the counter this year and the loughs agency state that anything below 1800 is below the mimimum requirement of survivability. I have seen a massive decline in the salmon stocks and the sea trout have disappeared it is sad to see a river of the quality of the roe go down so much and the committee and loughs agency dont care you would be better of looking elsewhere ie the faughan had a great year above average returns of salmon and quite equally priced. Oh and by the way the roe angling assiocation have let in 200 non locals this year and the banks are very heavily fished for how long i would guess not long unless the salmon make a massive recovery sorry to bring you such a bad report anything you would like to know

i heard it was a terrible season, very sad, where is faughan? i want somthing i could fish quite regulary, get in some sort of club, day tickets burn a whole in my pocket, i only really get down to the moy every 2 or 3 years. i hope the roe improves and i am sure than posioning last season didnt help either. my father doesnt fish much anymore, he says all he hears is bad news when people talk about salmon fishing, very sad.
what about sixmilewater?

Shrimpin - never fished the Roe but used to be a member of the Faughan. Its the next river along from the Roe (heading towards L'derry). It used to be about £70 for the season although it is probably cheaper for juniors. The Sixmile is a good river for dollaghan (Lough Neagh brown trout), there are salmon but not in great numbers and no sea trout. It is very difficult to get into the club (I have been trying for 5yrs ) so I would try somewhere else like the Faughan. hope this helps E

the faughan is only a small spate river equal to the roe in size but only 1/3 the size of the mourne and it gets about 1/3 the returns of the mourne ie about 3000 salmon. The faughan used to be good for sea trout and of a good quality the agivey has a very very long waiting list for non locals i would love to get on they are enthusastic about the river stocks and river management but the waiting list endless hope this helps
