To be brutally honest, I wouldn't pay to fish Blairs in March Can be really good value in August/September. Knappach is a better bet although it always feels like you're fishing from the wrong side of the river. If the water is low you cab wade out to where you need to be fishing, but be careful as the wading is hard going.

Don't be kidded, Birkenbaud has changed over the last few years and fish now tend to hold more on the Knappach side, especially when the water is colder. 2 Swedes took 3 fish one wild Friday in March this year while we thrashed away for nothing. The pool has 2 channels, one either side. The middle is shallower. Before they did the bank work on the Knappach side, the Crathes side of Birkenbaud was a great spring pool. Now it's so-so. However the knappach side has defnately improved.
I agree with Graham though....not a lot of fishing if you plan to take few days or if water is high.

Kincardine, Commonty, Dess............will all be nicer to fish

While searching the Internet I came across the following report. www.marlab.ac.uk/FRS.Web/Uploads/Documents/Report62.pdfI remember reading this and others like it before. Many of you may already have read this, but those new to salmon fishing might find it makes interesting reading and supplies just a little more information to help you on your way. Seasonal Greetings to you all. I look forward to more banter and informed discussion in the year ahead. Maybe Santa will be nice to me and I might get my summer and autumn fishing organised on a river I want. All the best, Jock
