Over the years I have owned many rods for salmon fishing. I can remember them all for both good and bad reasons, but there is one rod that I would call my favourite. That rod is the Hardy fibalite `Salmon Fly` in either 12`6 or 14`0 ft. It can cast a long line, land large fish with ease and be used all day long without any pain.
So which is your favourite rod?
Cheers WM

My favourite would have to be my most enduring companion, a B&W Expert 15 footer that my parents gave me for my 18th birthday. It is still going strong 24 years later and has landed fish big and small, on sunk lines and floaters. Other rods have come and gone, "better" rods no doubt. But, the old Expert still brings a smile to my face when I rig it. Even if, like its owner, it doesn't look quite as smart as it once did.

My Daiwa Troutmaster 9'6" glass rod just about falls into this category as it landed a salmon when used for spinning! Doesn't get used now but was given as a birthday present when I was 14 or so in the early 80s - used for all sorts - dropping a worm into burns for trout, general river fishing for trout, catching rainbows in reservoirs and pressed into action as a spinning rod for grilse! So, a lot of history. I've got piles of rods now, many state of the art, but none have the heritage and memories of that old Daiwa!

10' Orvis Silver Label gives me the fondest memories of trout and my first sea-trout as a teenager. Attached was a System II reel which was just great. Still have both and just touching them brings all the landed and lost fishy memories flooding back Now my favourite rod is the one that has the fish on the end

14' Daiwa Amorphous Whisker 9/10 for summer and Clan Rods 16' 10/11 for Spring and back end. Both rods are over 10 years old and, together my 5 piece 15' Bloke for travelling and a 12' cane grilse rod, I am not tempted by any of the modern offerings: except, perhaps a 14' Shakespeare Oracle as a back up!
