Hi Alan,
Yes, I have fished East Haugh and a good friend has a week every year at the end of April, the best week, which I can never manage. I think they got 18 last year and 26 the year before.
Changes have taken place at East Haugh. Instead of 6 rods being available to Don there will only be 4.
If you can get on then go for it. I doubt you will get on towards the end of April but anytime in April the fish will be there it all depends on conditions. I did not take my 2 rods for this year so there may be rods available early april.

I'm fishing there 12/13 April for the first time, so I'll leave you a few fish. ;D
Spoke to Don Reid this week and he said mid April - mid May is popular. I think he said the fish stack up in the beats below the fish ladder until the water temp rises to 47/48 C, usually around the end of April - so who knows with global warming!

East Haugh was one of my first ever beats outside association waters and i love it.
I managed to winkle out a fish when it was blazing hot (which is probably why I enjoyed it so much!!), but the day before, I watched my mate land a fresh 20lber at the top of Peg Legs, what a beautiful fish it was.
Anyway, in other forum members experience, will the beat fish from start to finish at end of the season or is it more a "middle months" beat. I think it was the end of May when i fished there.

good luck! they have a good web-site and some nice looking water! It's far wider than i expected it to be?? A week is a bit out of my price range..... but if i could i'd take a week in March when its cheaper! I shall need to speak to my mate and see if he fancies a week on it next year? it looks very tempting!
I take it there is no ghillie on site? at least i didn't see any mention of one?

Thanks John, they dont have a resident gillie but the beat does look like it will be good fly water.Fingers crossed for the fish backing up from the dam.John the Pitlochry angling club water at the dam and also further down at moulinearn are really good value beats try fishtay. The Portnacraig beat at the dam in may and you're in with a very good chance of that first springer.I have few days in march/april on there and its sleepless nights the night before.Good luck in your 2nd season.
