The price for a full licence in England and Wales is going up to £66.50. Just got a the letter through the door today telling me that my direct debit will be going out on the 1st March.

Jim It is bad enough having Weegies fishing, without Weegies inviting the English to fish the Highland rivers

Jim I have told the wife that I would move to Scotland if I get a good job offer or win the lottery.
Willie Gunn I am 1/2 Scotch (mothers side) so does that make it any better.

wilbert. We will assume you mean Scots,if not it may be better where you are ! (lol) For less than half your rod licence cost I can fish my local river for salmon for a season ! You have no idea how difficult life can be here in the sticks.

That poses an interesting question - if a salmon fishing starved Englishman could move to anywhere in Scotland, and get good and reasonably priced salmon fishing from say March to October, where would he go? (Autumn fishing on Tweed is excluded from the reasonably priced bracket!)

Easy answer - Aberdeenshire There is still affordable fishing on the Dee, plenty on the Don and Deveron and many quality rivers are but a quick car journey away (Spey, North Esk etc) - and there's rivers that fish well at different times to make things interesting ;D

Well Betanut, I'm probably too indecisive to live in Aberdeenshire - I'd spend all my time trying to decide where to fish next! ;D
You guys are spoillt for choice........................wonder what the wife thinks about retiring up north in a few years time!!
