Has anyone any info on the River Teith ? I took out the Stirling Council ticket a couple of years ago. It was ok,but a bit crowded. Particularly interested in the spring fishing there and what private beats that are available ?

Country pursuits (referred to by robmason) who used to manage the Cambusmore Beats lost the factoring at the end of last season. Cambusmore is now managed by Managed Estates of Stirling (tel 01786 462519) A new beat has been added across from beat one for this year.Three rods can fish. I know all the Saturdays on Cambusmore beats are all taken for the season but there may still be week days available on a season/daily ticket. Hope this helps.

Munro, I have heard there are 4 beats on Cambusmore and that one of them is not very good. Do you know what that beat number is, in case they put me on it ? Cheers Lomond

Salmonscotty16lb, the only bit of the Forth I know is the stretch at the M9 at Stirling (Stirling Council water). It is about 120 quid for a season ticket if you live outside Stirling.(about 40 quid if you live in Stirling). I've heard it is not that good in the spring as the springer go straight through the beat without stopping. It is meant to be exceptional in Sept/Oct when there is water. It gets really busy though. I passed last season on the motorway going north and it was like Argyle street. Most guys spin or bait fish, however I have heard the fly is good too. The rest of the Forth is slow flowing and not good fly water. The Teith is by far the better fly water and most of the fish go up the Teith anyway (as far as I know). Lomond

Lomond - the best beats on Cambusmore are 2 and 3 although beat 1 can be ok but not upto the standard of 2 or 3. Beat 4 is cr*p and not worth fishing. The new beat (on the opposite bank from beat 1) has only been aquired this year and is therefore an unknown quantity .

Thanks for this Munro, I thought this was the case, someone told me about this ,but I couldn't remember what were the good/bad beats. Can you specify the beat no. you want when booking or do they tell you what beat you are on ?

Lomond- I know all the Saturday rods are taken for the season but if you can fish mid week I'm sure there are likely to be rods available. I'm pretty sure you could choose your beat - 2 or 3 by far the best. This is the first year Managed Estates have run the Fishings so a call to them would get you the information you need.
