Does anyone know if you can get day tickets on this river having a few days up in Fort William in the summer and would like a days salmon fishing around there. Alan

You can't is the short answer However, a long answer might suggest you try the Rod and Gun Shop in Fort William and see if you can get a day ticket to fish the Association water (essentially the tidal beat) as if any fishing were available on the main river it would almost certainly be a weekly let. I would be surprised if you got on even the Association water though, you might do better enquiring about the Spean or the Roy but you'd need to be fishing when there's a chunk of water. There are other options in the area which the Rod and Gun shop staff should be able to help you with, if they don't drop me a line here (no pun intended) and will help as best I can - as I'm sure others will.

Betanut,
Does the Nevis get much of a run? I fished it years ago and they were few and far between then.

The Nevis did have a moderately good run of fish - lots were taken by wormers on the lower pools - but that was 15+ years ago now. I'm not sure how it fishes these days to be honest.

How about the River Leven, which drains the Blackwater Reservoir and enters the loch at Kinlochleven? I know this isn't too far away from Fort William but has anybody any experience of fishing this river? or where to get permits? I once walked down its banks and it looks a lovely river & i swore to return and fish it someday. I think British Aluminium had something to with permits but I'm may be wrong. Always an alternative if your in the area.

Didnt find them the most helpful of people to be honest. Aye, the shop's not been the same since the days of the much missed John Servis But you always hope things might improve - guess not How far are you willing to strike from Fort William - will you be based there or nearby?
