Hello all,
Thought id post and ask for some info on the "Lorn" and "Inverawe" beats of the Awe?
I know its only a shadow of its former self, but i am going to pop up late on in the year, and was wondering if anyone on here has recent (ish) experience of the afore mentioned beats.
Info im really after includes suitable rod length, good pools, flies and prospects etc
I was also looking at the Orchy beats too and further info on any of these would also be very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance Clydebuilt

Clydebuilt, I've sent you a PM with contact details that should put you into some good fishing. I don't have enough experience of the Awe to comment. If you like steady fishing where you don't want to be rock hopping in between casts, then avoid the middle beats of the Orchy. Personally, I quite enjoy fishing them and it is a beautiful bit of the river, with all the falls and pots. The Auch beat at the top of the Orchy has some great open fly water, as do the bottom beats, Dalmally and Lower Craig. The Orchy is very much a spate river and there are really to many big rocks for the fish to hide under to allow for productive low water fly-fishing. Both rivers seem to be rivers on the mend at the moment. You may also want to look at: www.loch-awe.com/riverorchy/Default.htmHope this is of some help. Tight Lines.

Cheers Fruin,
Ive PM'd you but i agree it is a beautiful stretch of river and to be honest, a fish i an added bonus for me most of the time. I do like rivers with pots, runs, with a variety of pool types, reminds me of the other Leven, the one that runs into Kinlochleven.

Have fished both the Lorn and Inverawe beats. Lorn is left bank, Inverawe right. I found it fished best off the left bank, so I'd plumb for Lorn given the chance. Had a fish out of Errchdt (? spelling) which I believe has been the place many of the large Awe salmon of the past where hooked (mine was 3lb!!) Lots of escapee rainbows to keep you occupied if the salmon aren't playing. A rod of 14ft or so is useful to cover the water, but long casts are not required and floating lines should be fine.
Also fished Dalmally and Craig beats on the Orchy. Nice fly water but obviously more dependent on rain.
