Things seem quiet, so two questions:
1. In which month, and where, did you catch your earliest ever salmon?
2. In how many different months of the year have you caught salmon?
My answers are:
1. early May on Tweed.
2. 7 months - May to November inclusive
PS It'll be interesting to see if anybody answers 12 to Q2!

1. Beginning of February on the Dee 2. 11, February to December (once did this in one season), I have yet to catch a January fresh salmon. I had a sneaky feeling you'd be an 11 or 12 man Graham! Where did you catch the December salmon?

1st Feb on the Dee
Every other month except January ( I don't count December as it is not legal in Scotland so to do). The January one is elusive partly because they are now so scarce in that month and you tend to fish very few days then but I am resolved to do it.

The earliest and latest I've landed a salmon was both on the River Don. Mid May and 31st October.
I've hooked a fresh fish in April on the Don but as yet still waiting to land a fish before May. What makes it frustrating is that I always venture out from February onwards and have been doing this for about 20 years.
I have some days on the Dee and Spey between now and mid April, so fingers crossed that this season I will 'hook' a springer in any of these months.

Always fancied trying 12 in a row. Got January out of the way but February is proving to be a hard slog. If I manage it I plan to go all the way. March to October best so far.

1. 1st April, river Lyn, Devon (why didn't I go the day before and get a March fish) 2. 8 months. April to November inclusive (all in season too ) Living only 2hrs from Cornwall I should be able to add December. January is not possible in the Westcountry and although some rivers open in February there are very few (if any) fish in them. I'm going to have a serious attempt at a March fish this year weather permitting. Andy

1. Earliest salmon - March, River Earn. Although depending on how the pundits view it, this year, (last week at Murthly 2), I caught and returned a Rawner - a cock fish not yet spawned. Does this officially count ?
2. 9 months March through to November.

Are we talking about how how many months in any ONE season have we caught fish? Or in how many different months of the year have we ever caught fish?

I didn't mean in one season, I meant different months over a number of seasons.
