I have tried both the Snelda and the Michael Evans Prawn. They both work very well. I have caught fish using an intermediate line with a fast sinking leader and a sink tip on both these flies. if I had to choose one. I would go for the ME Prawn

Has any body tried varying the colours ? I've been thinking about tying a couple up in spring rather than autumn colours for the april visit to the Spey and Tummel I have just posted a photo of the original colours. I have tied the Snelda in Yellow & Black, Green & Yellow and Red & Yellow. I have not had a chance to try them out yet. No reason why the ME Prawn could not be tied in the same colours. I would imagine a cascade variant could be a winner
