I had the great pleasure of fishing Forglen from 1978-1980, indeed almost every day in 1980 in the company of Life-Long Ghillie Johnathon Taylor. In my very biased view I would have to say that it's the best beat on the entire river.
Not a great deal of spring fish around at this time of year but an excellent opportunity to fish an exclusive beat in lovely surroundings at a reasonable price. Also when the Brown Trout open on the 15th March, you will be surprised by the quality of trout fishing, especially around the Glen from the opposite bank and Ashogle from the Forglen side.
In the Spring months I wouldn't spend too much time on the best summer pools ( Banff Stream, Pondend/Poundings, Island Stream ), I'd concentrate on slightly slower running water like Lower Knockie Mill, Whin stream, Morrisons, Stable Flats, House pool on the Top Half & Ashogle, Todlaw Flats and the Points on the bottom half.
I'm sure you'll enjoy your day out, I have many many fond memories which will remain with me all my days.
