I would like to get a few days in the week of Good Friday somewhere in Scotland- There isn't much available on the Dee and nothing on the Spey- does anyone have any suggestions for a beat/ river where I might get on with a reasonable chance of a fish?
Cheers, Simon

North Esk - Try Edzell, if available.

River Leven, if we have water. Mind you it is £15 a day

I wouldn't write Sluie off. Just because the catches are low it does not mean an experienced fisher like yourself would struggle.
Its the right river at the right time of the year in the right section of the river imo

Friday and Saturday are gone now. I fished Commonty the other week and Sluie is opposite, a nice piece of River.

Agree with Sloggi - Try the North Esk. Canterland and Gallery are good value and attractive water. Strongly recommend the South Esk too - contact Airlie Estates Office at Cortachy for availability on their beats (Sawmill Dam / Meetings / Downiepark). Ask for Nikki - I think they have some availability during this period. Cortachy would be my first choice - being smaller than it's sister river the North Esk you might even find that you can fish it with a single handed rod.......springers on a light rod ??.......bring it on !!! ;D

The Deveron might be worth a crack. We had 50 fish that first week in April Last year and nearly 45 for the other three weeks. Not a lot of people fishing - just a few locals and at £15 per day - you can have the pick of all the beats I have available covering moth to source. Check out www.fishingthedeveron.co.uk and the last few years fishing reports are detailed on the site with a few pictures of fish caught. Frank
