Killin angling club do well early on, mainly on worm as far as I know. Don't think you can get a ticket for the bit below the falls. Looks good though.

It's years since I was up there (fishing the loch) but I found them unhelpful, to say the least. They have a cracking bit of water and I got the impression they didn't want anyone getting near it.

Standing on the bridge and looking downstream saw a wormer take a sea bright silver 8pounder from one of the pots. Dont know if he had a permit but he beat a hasty retreat with his prize.

Isn't this the place that a Ghillie is reported to have caught about 50 grilse in a day, before going home because he just couldn't be bothered to fish anymore? (During late 19th/early 20th century)

Thinking about it MIke some of these pots could not be fished any other way. I think that ,again passing by a few years ago, in extreme low water some of these were dried out and were almost perfect mortar shape. The pestle being an almost perfectly round rock in the bottom. Standing on the bridge and looking downstream saw a wormer take a sea bright silver 8pounder from one of the pots. Dont know if he had a permit but he beat a hasty retreat with his prize. The thing with catching large numbers of salmon (as opposed to rainbows), is that if you have caught 6 or so quite early in the day, you just can't help but want to fish hard in order to take the beat record. Always easier said (and dreamed about), than actually done!

(During late 19th/early 20th century) I once caught 35 wild brownies to 1.4lbs, 6 grayling to 1.75lbs and a 10lb salmon all on the Tummel town water just below the pedestrian bridge - all in six hours fishing - and, you guessed it - all on a small 'Garden Flee' - wee brannies & #14 single hook 5lb line. Took 2 medium grayling home to eat as they are tastier that trout. The salmon went on its upstream way. I did hear of a rod on the Ponoi (Russia) having 51 grilse/salmon in a 'day' (24 hour period) some years ago also. Mike
