Hi I dont really have much time to participate but look in regularly. As I am based in Trondheim Norway and is see that a few of you venture here each year I thought you might like some local news.
Conditions are looking good at the moment for the start of the season, we had half a meter more snow during easter which will prolong the meltwater. Rivers are quite big at the moment and air temp is still cool. In addition it has been reported that their is an estimated 10 million tons of Herring in and around the coast of Norway and Fjords at the moment, that has not been seen since the 1950's. That generally means big fat fish. Sea trout in the salt is already producing some nice catches in Trondheims Fjord.

Hi gents last year was a disastorous season in Norway, after the end of June, sunshine, sunshine and even more sunshine and no rain. It was the hottest summer on record since something like 1827. However if you know where to go you will always get fish and Gaula is not one of the rivers to rely on at all in such circumstances. The Q is whats most important to you when you go on holiday, catching fish or a trophy fish? Living in Trondheim i'm quite fortunate i live within 20 mins of Gaula, 40 mins of Orkla, 8 mins of Nidelve, 15 mins of Stjordalselve etc, and know many more opportunistic and exciting places to visit.
