I think you will struggle to get a day on the Tummel at this short notice even though it's not fishing good just now.Try the Fishtay website you will have more chance of a day rod on the Tay.

Johnny, I'd give it a swerve unless your looking for some sport with grayling and brownies.
That is, unless it rains up there sometime between now and Saturday night. There are no fish in the river and only the arrival of a decent spate brings any chance of improvement. When we get rain then we have some hope. Tightlines, Salmo.

At least 2 taken from opposite Portnacraig today by 4pm. One at 17lbs and the other 5lbs in low water....unless a good friend is telling me porkies.

Sounds good, Portnacraig report on the website don't they? No sign yet. 5 so far for entire Tay system, which is 2 more than Monday. Any way you look at it, this is not a good start to the season (and we're well the beyond start).

Any way you look at it, this is not a good start to the season (and we're well the beyond start). It is not Portnacraig but the water on the opposite bank. I understand they got three last Tuesday. Before 4pm today my friend had phoned another friend about the two he had caught today. The beat does not appear or report on Fish Tay.

The beat I think is called cluniemore and they do well in low water.

A lot of them "chap" like they do up north. They try to keep quiet about their catches but you can't keep quiet about ANYTHING around Pitlochry at this time of year - and the dead fish lying on the bank kind of gives it away too. Have heard some real horror stories about the french party that fish every year around this time.

Ta for all the info guys. I'll try the above for availability, if that fails, then I'm desperate!
Is Cluniemore a nice flywater?
Thanks again.

You are very unlikely to be able to get a day at Cluniemore. It's easy fly water as the fish are close into that side but there's usually lots of lead flying as well - floating devons are very popular. You could try Atholl Estates for a day on Lower Tummel - don't know what the availability is like.

Ta for all the info guys. I'll try the above for availability, if that fails, then I'm desperate! If you are desparate, I could let you have my rod on West Haugh and Dunfallandy on Monday. That is the beat from Milton of Fonab Caravan site downstream to the march with East Haugh. The A9 goes over the middle of the beat (that Bridge Pool is one of the best casts by the way). There are fish in the river.....catching them will be the problem as the unseasonably high water temp and low water is keeping them on the move over the Dam. PM me if interested.

Any recommendations for hotels?, my wife will be along so this opportunity offers me some respite from the touristy things I'll need to do with her. On that note any recommendations too on that would be welcome, jeeez I'm askin for everything here.
