Good link and it worked fine for me. The masterplan - Thunderstorms on Monday, high water on Tuesday, dropping and clearing on wednesday - my day on Portnacraig. Nothing can go wrong!

How you doing up there Greenbanks ? Very public spirited of you to let a few fish past for me and Splash yesterday. On the subject of rain, in headwaters of Tweed country (known as Dark Ages Valley to the more prolific members) we had a few heavy belts of rain today but not enough to do any serious damage. Burns running into the top of the river are "sma" so Splash should be OK at Horncliffe tomorrow. I was going to waste my time on the Annan tomorrow but not even enough has fallen to make that worthwhile. Archie reckoned Crathie should have been 1ft above yesterday's level - very obvious lack of snow on those hills so looks like we'll have to learn a communal rain dance.

Hi BC, Good to meet you and Splash yesterday, and to hear you both got a fish. Just looked on Metcheck. Forecast is rain during the week then snow for the Cairngorms next weekend After basking on the Costa Del Balmoral for the past few days, I think Archie might be digging his thermals out for the weekend. A steady 25 degrees forecast there all week. Have a good time. If you pick up half the tan that Woburn got at Crathie you'll be doing well.

Great stuff Splash. I've often fished the opposite beat - did you have ropes and ice-picks to get to the pools I really enjoy the "gorge" although landing fish can be fun. In my experience, the fish really run the gorge when the spate comes and end up below the Loups ready for a...loup, I guess. Should shake the river up though, been running at summer low for weeks.

Thanks Sloggi - the mountaineering was a challenge but looked even more severe on the Gannochy side. Certainly a few fish around although most looked like old river fish with the odd freshish one around. Interested to see next weeks catches....

Fished Kercock on the Tay today and the level rose 6 inches anfd the became steady. Slight peatinees to the water, but only very slight. I never touched anything but there were two fish lost on the beat. Seen a few fish, but they were not hanging around. If we get no rain tonight, there may be a few fish off the Tay in the morning.
