read an article to-day, in a national daily, about, mitten crabs.. bloody hell, when will they address this problem. forgot all of the details, but they are slowly creeeping north. how can we get rid of them. they feed on salmon egg's, they also burrow, as much, as a metre into a bank, and make the bank unsafe. we don't need that. what do you all think........................gavan.........

I saw something about that the other day, must say I thought that it was something the water authorities whould act on very quickly, but I suppose usual rules apply, do nothing ,that they cannot possibly survive in our climate. There is no doubt a committee being formed even as we speak to look into the possibility of doing a survey about what can be done about it during 2009/10,the survey to take three years,oh sorry I got carried away,I was thinking of the Scottish Parliament. It is a serious problem though, answers, sorry I have none.

Can't remember which river he mentioned, but a chap I spoke to the other day said his mate was potting for these beasties, and was getting as many as 10,000 per day. Surely that says it all.
Signal crayfish, now mitten crabs, whatever next?
